Have you seen those viral posts on Facebook? You know the ones your friends fill out describing their relationship by answering questions, or answer silly questions so his/her friends can know a little something extra? I find them silly, but to be honest… I love reading them and I love answering them. So why not do a little blog post that is similar and give you all a chance to get to know me better. Here are 10 things you probably did not know about me:
1. What are your nicknames? What do you prefer to be called?
My nicknames… well my family calls me Buki/Bookie (Dad Spelling vs. Mom Spelling). I wish I could tell you why they call me that but I truly do not know. Maybe that is a question I need to ask them. My friends sometimes throw Laydog at me. This nickname came in high school because we all called Corey “Corndog” … once we started dating my nickname somehow turned into it too.
I prefer to be called Layla, but I’ll take Lay for short if you can’t bear to say my full name. 😉
2. What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep? Toss and Turn? Try to get up and do something productive?
Corey will like this question. You guys, I am the worst sleeper. I toss and turn and then I will wake Corey up to suffer with me. He always just goes back to sleep, but I do feel bad for him when I do it… and yet I still do it. Poor guy, I am not sure I will ever stop either. Who likes to toss and turn by themselves?
3. What was the most recent compliment you’ve received and savored?
Last night actually, Ali, one of my girl friends, told me she thought about me while her and her church were putting together an idea of how to reach people in their church’s neighborhood because they are hosting free dinners for those who are less fortunate. I was so excited she thought of me as someone to help. What they are doing is so amazing, we need more people like them in the world.
4. What do you think about more than anything else?
My future and all aspects of it. I am constantly thinking about what is coming next and what I can do to get there. Remember when I said I toss and turn at night? It is probably because my mind is running of all the things that I am going to do the next day… or even the next week.
5. What’s one thing you’d rather pay someone to do than do yourself? Why?
NOT A DAMN THING. If I can do something myself, I will do it. I don’t care if it is the most annoying task in the world. If I can do it, I’m doing it. Shoot, chances are if I can’t do it, I will still try to before I pay someone else to. My friends and family would call this “cheap”… I call it “smart”. 🙂
6. If you could restore one broken relationship, which would it be?
I am not sure if you would call this a “broken relationship”, but I would love to reconnect with all of the girls I used to play soccer with. Oh my goodness, we used to have so much fun. I don’t think I ever had a bad time hanging out with any of them.
7. How difficult is it for you to be honest, even when your words may be hurtful or unpopular?
I think my friends can attest to this, not hard at all. I know some don’t like that about me, but I also know others who appreciate it. Ciera would say I just need to work on my delivery. 😉 However, I have learned that not everyone really gives a shit about my honesty, and so I can at least decipher the situation enough to know when it is acceptable to speak up, and when it is not.
8. What is my ideal definition of success?
I do partly define my success in a monetary way. I have no intention on being the wealthiest person on the planet, but to not have to think twice about buying that new steam mop would be nice. But overall, when I get that tingle of excitement in what I am doing and living a life that I can feel proud of.
9. What is the single, most significant change I can make in 2018?
Following through.
10. Do I feel guilty about not spending enough time with those who are important to me?
Yes, all of the time. I do not spend enough time with my parents, I acknowledge this, and plan to fix it.
So, is there anything you are surprised to know about me? Comment below! Feel free to copy/paste these questions and answer them in the comments. I would love to know more about you. I wonder how similar we are!
