International Women’s Day 2018

Here’s to strong women:

May we know them.

May we be them.

May we raise them.

 

Happy International Women’s Day!

Today is a day where we recognize women for their achievements without regard for divisions, whether national, political, cultural, or economical. The first IWD was in 1909 on the 28th of February, and was created to honor the women who protested against working conditions in New York. The day was not globally celebrated by the UN until 1975, during International Women’s Year, on March 8th. & now, here we are, celebrating in 2018.

However, talk is cheap, and change starts with action. So how will you celebrate IWD? I will celebrate by doing everything I can to advance my dreams and help my sisters do the same.

Let me take a moment to share with you a few women who inspire me.

1. All of the wonderful women I work with. The team I am on is filled with intelligent, kind and hard-working women. They express love and appreciation openly and are constantly fostering positivity within the team. I could not be more grateful to have the opportunity to learn from and work with each one of them.
2. Shelbie Todd, over at www.ddotts.com . Shelbie is the definition of girlboss. Thank you, Shelbie, for taking me under your wing and sharing all of your blogging tips and tricks with me. 3. Marie Curie : So many of my projects in grade school were about Marie Curie. I was so positive that I was going to be just like her. If you do not know who she is, I suggest taking a quick look at her biography. She was the first woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize, and the only woman to win it twice. Next time you hear the word radioactivity, this is woman you should be thinking of.
